The atmosphere at Azerbaijan’s polling stations was very good and there were queues of those wishing to vote, the member of the monitoring mission from the Parliamentary Assembly of Black Sea Cooperation Organization (BSEC), the representative of Russia’s State Duma Salia Murzabalieva said on Thursday at the press-conference in the Independent Media Centre.
According to her, the high percentage of attendance reflects the voters’ civic engagement in Azerbaijan, a sense of patriotism and love to the homeland.
The whole population supports the current political course and the country’s further development, Murzabalieva said.
The organization of the election was excellent, the member of the mission representing the Georgian parliament Mikheil Manchvariani said.
According to him, while talking to the mission members, the representatives of all parties confirmed that there were no irregularities.
The representatives of the mission visited the polling stations in Baku and Sumgait and were able to carry out their activities freely, the Georgian observer said.
The Azerbaijani presidential election was held on October 9. According to the initial results, President Ilham Aliyev gathered 2,282,936 votes (84.73 percent).
